Life Lessons: Learn From Tying Your Shoelace

Fashion is ever evolving and so does the variety of sneakers and foot wear with shoestrings. The struggle is real from choosing your foot candies to tying its lace. Thus, let’s keep the ball rolling and let’s dissect the tying process and get 3 life lessons from this habit.

1. Create Balance.

The left and right lace should have equal length. Starting it with conscious effort that the two laces are with the same dimension, you will know that in the end you will not have difficulty in balancing the lace extent. The same in life, create a balance among the most important aspects in your life.

“We need to introduce a little balance into your life. Part of this balance means not missing out on some of the marvels of life around you, the fun, some excitement, or other challenges in life.” Catherine Pulsifer

2. Choose your direction.

Decide what kind of shoe lacing style you want. Would it be the traditional display style, hidden knot, loop back or ladder? The main goal is to have a goal end. Taking this into perspective, each of us has the power to decide on how we want to live our life. The path towards it is similar to the lacing style, IT IS UP TO US.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” Maya Angelou

3. Make it strong.

Tie the lace with a strong knot. You have to secure the knot to avoid the hassle of tying it again and again or to evade tripping that may cause accident. Reflecting on this, we should make decisions that are strong and well-thought of. There are instances that your choices are questioned and if you are firm about your decision and is supported well by your values and actions, you will not falter easily with criticisms.

“The weak fall, but the strong will remain and never go under!” Anne Frank
